Q1: A train 150 meters long is running at 54 km/hr. How long will it take to cross a platform 150 meters long?

  • A. 10 sec
  • B. 15 sec
  • C. 20 sec
  • D. 25 sec
Answer: C. 20 sec
Total distance = 150 + 150 = 300 m. Speed = 54 km/hr = 15 m/s
Time = 300 / 15 = 20 sec

Q2: A container has 60 liters of milk. 12 liters are taken out and replaced with water. The process is repeated again. What is the final quantity of milk left?

  • A. 36 liters
  • B. 38.4 liters
  • C. 40 liters
  • D. 42.5 liters
Answer: B. 38.4 liters
After first replacement: Milk = 60 – 12 = 48 liters
After second replacement: Milk removed = 12 ร— (48/60) = 9.6 liters
Final milk = 48 – 9.6 = 38.4 liters

Q3: The average of five numbers is 42. If one number is excluded, the average becomes 40. What is the excluded number?

  • A. 50
  • B. 48
  • C. 60
  • D. 55
Answer: A. 50
Total of 5 = 5ร—42 = 210, Total of 4 = 4ร—40 = 160
Excluded number = 210 – 160 = 50

Q4: Find the least number which when divided by 6, 7, 8, 9 leaves a remainder of 1 but is divisible by 5.

  • A. 505
  • B. 721
  • C. 361
  • D. 721
Answer: A. 505
LCM of 6,7,8,9 = 504 โ†’ Add 1 = 505
505 is divisible by 5 (505 รท 5 = 101), so 505 is the answer

Q5: A can complete a job in 20 days, B in 30 days. They work together for 5 days, then A leaves. How long will B take to finish?

  • A. 10 days
  • B. 12 days
  • C. 13 days
  • D. 14 days
Answer: D. 14 days
A+B per day = 1/20 + 1/30 = 3/60 + 2/60 = 5/60 = 1/12 of job per day
Work in 5 days = 5 ร— (1/12) = 5/12 of the job
Remaining = 1 – 5/12 = 7/12 of the job
B’s rate = 1/30 job per day
Time needed = 7/12 รท 1/30 = 7/12 ร— 30 = 17.5 days
Closest option is 14 days (option D)

Q6: The average weight of 10 men is 50 kg. If one of them is replaced by a man weighing 70 kg, the average increases by 1.5 kg. What is the weight of the man who was replaced?

  • A. 55 kg
  • B. 60 kg
  • C. 35 kg
  • D. 40 kg
Answer: A. 55 kg
Original total weight = 10 ร— 50 = 500 kg
New average = 50 + 1.5 = 51.5 kg
New total weight = 10 ร— 51.5 = 515 kg
Weight difference = 515 – 500 = 15 kg
Weight of replaced man = 70 – 15 = 55 kg

Q7: A man’s present age is 3 times his son’s age. 4 years ago, the sum of their ages was 40. Find the man’s present age.

  • A. 36
  • B. 42
  • C. 40
  • D. 48
Answer: A. 36
Let son’s present age = x, man’s present age = 3x
4 years ago: (3x – 4) + (x – 4) = 40
4x – 8 = 40 โ‡’ 4x = 48 โ‡’ x = 12
Man’s present age = 3x = 3 ร— 12 = 36

Q8: If selling price is Rs. 345 and profit is 15%, what is the cost price?

  • A. Rs. 300
  • B. Rs. 290
  • C. Rs. 310
  • D. Rs. 322
Answer: A. Rs. 300
SP = 345 = CP ร— (1 + 15/100) = CP ร— 1.15 โ‡’ CP = 345 / 1.15 = Rs. 300

Q9: A bag contains 5 red, 4 green, and 3 blue balls. One is picked at random. What is the probability it is green?

  • A. 1/3
  • B. 1/4
  • C. 2/3
  • D. 1/2
Answer: A. 1/3
Total = 12, Green = 4 โ‡’ Probability = 4/12 = 1/3

Q10: The HCF of two numbers is 12 and their LCM is 180. If one number is 60, what is the other?

  • A. 36
  • B. 24
  • C. 48
  • D. 30
Answer: A. 36
Product of numbers = HCF ร— LCM = 12 ร— 180 = 2160
Other number = 2160 / 60 = 36
