Infosys Puzzle Based Questions:

Q1. Consider following rules while substituting number in the given grid

  1. The numbers substituted in each cell of a particular column must be unique and should add up to
the number given in the topmost cell of the corresponding column.
  2. The numbers substituted in each cell of a particular row must be unique and should add up to the
number given in the first cell of the corresponding row.
  3. The numbers to be used are from 1 to 9 only.

Determine the number that will be present in place of ?

A) 7
B) 3
C) 1
D) 9
E) 5

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

The only possibility of getting the mentioned sum is:

Hence the value in the orange block will be 7. So, answer would be option A.

Q2. Given is the set of nine numbers that relate to each other in a certain way. Determine the missing number in the second set. Assume that second set also works in the same way as the first set.

A) 30
B) 40
C) 50
D) 60

Answer: Option B

Solution:

4 + 3 + 4 = 11

5 + 1 + 7 = 13

4 + 4 + 9 = 17

I.e, the sum of all the digits in the row is a prime no. and the formation goes on like consecutive prime numbers.

Hence,

12 + 21 + 28 = 61

21 + 12 + 34 = 67

Now the next summation should result 71

17 + 14 + X = 71

X = 71 – (17 + 14)

X = 40

Q3. Find the missing term in the third figure. Assume the third figure works in same way as other two.

A) 130
B) 236
C) 240
D) 198

Answer: Option C

Solution:

Add all the boundaries blocks

4 + 5 + 3 + 7 = 19

And now multiply  it with the number of the block surrounding the center block

Number of blocks surrounding the center block = 4

19 * 4 = 76

Similarly in 2nd fig

8 + 1 + 9 + 2 + 2 + 4 = 26

26 * 6 = 156

Hence for the last block

8 + 1 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 3 + 5 + 4 = 30

30 * 8 = 240

Q4. What should replace the ? mark in below figure.

A) 25
B) 10
C) 16
D) 19

Answer: Option C

Solution:

23 * 23 = 529

5 + 2 + 9 = 16

29 * 29 = 841

8 + 4 + 1 = 13

Similarly,

31 * 31 = 961

9 + 6 + 1 = 16

Q5. In the following question, select the number which can be placed at the sign of question
mark(?)

A) 76
B) 45
C) 67
D) 68

Answer: Option D
Explanation:

If we add the product of numbers of the cross axis, we will get the sum mentioned in the
middle.
5*3 + 6*4 = 39
5*4 + 5*2 = 30
8*6 + 4*5 = 68
